Rafel Fraile Antolín

Born in Barcelona in 1979.

In 1997, he began his degree in Technical Industrial Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and then continued studying Technical Architecture at the Polytechnic University in Barcelona. He always coupled his academic education with working as an intern at the Percial GTT Engineering Firm and as a Junior Structural Designer at ARCHITECTES BIS.

In 2002, he received a Séneca grant and spent one year in Mexico City completing his Final Project at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. In 2003, he moved to Ibiza and began his career as a Technical Architect working for the Urcoisa – Palladium Hotel Group (Matutes Group). In 2003, he joined the professional association of technical architects and engineers in the islands of Ibiza and Formentera (COAATEEEF). Since then, he has been working as a freelance Technical Manager on several hotel and single/multi-family housing projects. In 2006, he returned to Mexico to lead a hotel project in Puerto Vallarta.

In 2007, he moved to Jamaica for three years where he coordinated the project and construction of a large resort as Project Manager. In 2010, he returned to Ibiza to work as a Project Manager in hotel projects like Ushuaïa Beach Hotel, Ushuaïa Tower, Only You Madrid and Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza, among others. He specialised in comprehensive project management, work team creation and cost controlling. In 2013, he graduated in Building Engineering from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB).

In 2015, he decided to end his unforgettable 13-year career at the Matutes Group and embark on a new professional stage, establishing his own studio in Ibiza: FRAILE PROJECT. He also enrolled in a Masters in Near-Zero Energy Building through at the UIB.
